SOKA GAKKAI ITALIAN BUDDHIST INSTITUTE: €21.6 MILLION INVESTED AND 247,000 PEOPLE REACHED THROUGH THE 8×1000, FOR A NONVIOLENT WORLD FREE FROM CONFLICT

A more just and nonviolent society, inspired by the principles of peace and equity, is the vision that has guided the Soka Gakkai in Italy in selecting the projects supported through the 8×1000. These range from Senzatomica by Be Hope Foundation, which raises awareness among younger generations about a culture of peace, to Il libro delle ombre, the documentary on Hiroshima produced by NATIA Docufilm SRLS with students from IULM University in Milan; from the PhD programme in Peace Studies promoted by RUniPace to the digital archive Peace in Movement by ARCI Nazionale.

BEYOND BORDERS, BUILDING BRIDGES OF WELCOME: €5.3 MILLION INVESTED AND 14,000 REFUGEES REACHED THANKS TO THE 8×1000 OF THE SOKA GAKKAI ITALIAN BUDDHIST INSTITUTE

On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the Soka Gakkai Italian Buddhist Institute highlights its commitment to supporting people forced to flee. From UNHCR Italy’s Community Matching, Refugees Welcome and CIAC Onlus, to Circoli Rifugio – More corridors for freedom promoted by ARCI, as well as human rights education and inclusion initiatives such as Protect People Not Borders by Comitato 3 Ottobre: thanks to 8×1000 funds, a wide range of initiatives has been promoted to protect refugees’ rights and foster positive change.

23 PROJECTS AND €2.75 MILLION INVESTED IN THE ENVIRONMENT: THE COMMITMENT OF THE SOKA GAKKAI IN ITALY TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE, SUPPORTED THROUGH THE 8×1000

From the protection of marine ecosystems in the Gulf of Palermo to the restoration of coastal dunes in Grosseto, from reforestation efforts in the Dolomites to an 8,000-square-metre community garden in Naples: on the occasion of the World Biodiversity Day, the Soka Gakkai Italian Buddhist Institute presents an overview of its main environmental protection projects, which have already reached 30,000 people thanks to 8×1000 funding.
